Today we hosted another Cashflow club at our house. Three games were being played at the same time – we had 15 kids!
I thought it went well and I could tell everyone was enjoying the game. One of the things I learned was that I should not play with that big of a group. When I did play, I did not explain things as well and without noticing, left the kids in my group with questions.
Later that day when I was talking with my Mom about the event at dinner, I felt like my Mom was being a little hard on me because I was playing the game more than helping other players. I did not want to hear her tell me this because I love to play Cashflow and I don’t get to play Cashflow with my friends that often. I did not want to loose my chance. In the end, my Mom was right ( as usual) and I learned that I can be a great friend and teacher at the same time.
Anyway, some other things good about the game – the newbies learned about real estate, stock, and investing! They seemed like they had fun and one other person beside me was able to get out of the Rat Race. A couple kids had to leave early but I heard one of them say they wanted to stay a lot longer and could not wait until the next Cashflow game.
I would like all the people that came to the last game to come to the next game and I expect that we will expand to our church were we can host all these people! We are going to need more games!

Getting Ready
Today was a really hectic day. We managed to print out name cards, brain storm strategies, and we have the final list of people who are coming! We have 14 people coming not including us! That is almost TRIPLE what we had last time! Some things that we brainstormed are: the first person to get out of the ratrace wins 100 Grand (the candy bar), we also know where everyone is sitting; hence the name cards. We are so excited! Tomorrow we are having people come over and play Cashflow from 2-5 at our house! There are going to be 3 tables set up for people to play on. Next Cashflow meeting, we are moving to a bigger facility! YEAH!!!!!

Invatations!

Invatations!
Today I spent my whole free time working on the invatation draft. I typed it on the computer, and then transfered it onto my flashcard to take home so that my dad could approve it.
He had to make some minor changes, but the rest was good.I printed 43 copies and handed them all out!
~Karly
Today I used my sister's format to make some fliers of my own to hand out. I handed everysingle one that I printed out. I also made alot of phone calls to my friends. I hope that they all can come!

Letters to the Teacher
9-25-2006
I just finished writhing my second letter to my teacher. The first one was quick and sloppy but, the second one I wrote the night before and I had my dad look over it. It was very descriptive, so my dad loved it. The next day I gave the letter to my teacher and I hope he responds to it quickly.

Cone of Learning
9-14-2006
Today at school my friend brought in the cone of learning and showed the class. After his speech, I asked him where he got it. He said, 'off of the Rich Dad websight' (www.richdad.com) I talked to him for a little while longer, and I found out that his family owned the Cashflow game. They also had some of the books. Of course, I told my teacher about the game since it was on my mind, and he said that he would like me to bring the game in and do a presentation. I hope at some point, that he will give me a date and time to do the presentation. On Tuesday, I'm going to ask him again about Cashflow.

Kirsten
One of the first people who played Cashflow with us, (Kirsten) liked the game so much that she pleaded her mother and father to buy the game. A while ago they bought the game, but they just reccently recieved it in the mail. I don't know when they recieved it, but I went over to her house today and she had set it up, and she was in the middle of a game with her family. After I talked to her about it, she said that her family loved it. She also said that her older sister was invited to come to the next Cashflow meeting, and she was excited. Kirsten's sister was able to come!

Choices Festival
9-1-06
Karly and I attended the Choices Rally at the Coyotes hockey arena. There were live performers, but most of all, Tank Jones was there. Tank Jones is the person who started the program ( http://www.whatischoices.com), and he also has a program called Totally D.U.D.E. going on at http://www.totallydude.org.
Tank started the Choices Festival and he has great partnerships with other companies, such as Rich Dad. The Festival consists of two days. The first day schools from all over the Phoenix area attend a rally, and later that night they had bands playing! Also, on the first day there were some speakers. There were four of them, one of them was Sharon Lechter, another was Miss Teen Arizona (part of the top ten) Emerald Zellers, and two other guys.
When Sharon spoke it was wonderful! She did a great job by being enthusiastic and she told everyone that they had the power over their lives and that they are the ones who control it. If you want to hear what she said, then click on the video below and watch the whole thing.
When we were talking to Sharon we met more people from the Rich Dad office. But, the coolest part of meeting new people was when we meet Emerald Zellers (www.emeraldzellers.com)! She is very nice, and learned of some of her accomplishments. Emerald just happened to have some pictures of herself so, she signed them for us! (I have mine taped to the wall.) We took pictures with Emerald and with Sharon, as you can see.

This program was designed for middle, high, and elementary schools, and from what we saw, there was promise of a good turnout tomorrow. Many schools were there, and I would say that there were about 5,000 kids there.
I am PUMPED UP to go to the festival tomorrow!

P.S. Kathy Grady made us some cool white shirts that have the Rich Dad emblem on the sleeve, and on the front it says Rich Family Ambassador!

Game II - We Had A Great Time!
Saturday August 26, we hosted our second Cashflow game day. See the video below.
I also conducted an interview with Rachel and Kirsten ( see below ) to find out what they learned. We even created a theme song to sing when we have babies in the game. :-)

Rich Woman Cashflow Club Meeting
August 20, 2006

Today I attended a Rich Woman Cashflow Club. They only had one previous meeting so the group was small. It was great meeting. We shared our information and played Cashflow. One of the ladies arrived with HUGE folder from a company in California that helps you do deals. She said the portfolio has steps and people to contact to get you started. It was amazing and company did this for free!
Another lady named Erin ( http://www.nolimitsladies.com/) and told us about a few websites that we could go to. One was this place that every Monday you could have online meetings and get answers about real estate questions.
Another lady asked me for my email address so we could exchange ideas and maybe even do some partnerships. :-)
I had so much fun and I can't wait to go back on September 17. If you would like to come to a Rich Woman Cashflow club meeting, check out the details at http://www.richdad.com/community/cashflow_clubs/clubs_info.asp?cid=2619.
We had a great time at the meeting as you can see by the pictures.

Thank You Notes
8/16/06
Today I wrote three rough draft thank you notes. The first one I wrote to Sharon Lechter saying thank you for getting us into this and actually setting a date. The second one I wrote to Kathy Grady about keeping in contact by e-mailing us. The last but not least one I wrote to was Phil Lechter because if we hadn’t met him, none of this would have happened.

Playing and Notes to Self
8/12/06
Today Kelsey and I each had a friend come over and play Cashflow 101 (this is the start of Cashflow Club for Kids).
Notes to self when starting to teach kids how to play Cashflow:
1. Don’t take too long to explain the rules. Just explain how to start up the game, the point of the game, and how to win. Explain the rest as you go.
2. If there’s someone new in your group, help them do their transactions. Like if they’re buying a Real Estate property, show them where to put the information on their sheet, but don’t forget to tell them ‘why’. If they get another RE property, see if they remember where to put them and some of the reasons why.
3. When my family usually plays Cashflow, we play with “electric” money (we keep a running total of our money on paper instead of using the play money from the game). We found out today that it’s easier to start with the play money so that the kids can actually "see" the money piling up or being used.
Example of "electric" money:
$800 Savings
+$500 Cashflow paycheck
-----------------
$1,300
- $200 Doodad expense
-----------------
$1,100
4. Before we started the game, I told everyone about positive and negative. What I mean by that is that I told them that if you think positive about what you want and you believe what you’re thinking, you’ll usually get it. If you think negative about something, you’ll usually get what you don’t want. It works for me cause I was the only one who didn’t get downsized, only got few doodads, and got mostly good opportunities.
We asked our friends if they thought it was fun and if they wanted to come back sometime to play again (and bring a friend). Of course they said, “yes” to both things!
I just can’t wait until all my friends are involved in this!

Brotherly Time
8/12/06
Cashflow 4 Kids
My little brother was very eager to play the game today but he had just finished the kids’ game with me. He is only six, but a very fast learner. He needs to work with the kids’ game for a while longer though. When we started playing last night, he was slow, but he caught on faster than the older kids! The game was helping him with his reading, math, and thinking skills. My mom came in to see what we were doing, listened to him read a couple cards and was thoroughly impressed. Well, by the end of the game, Max had been out of the rat race for some time and was just racking up the houses, businesses and shares… let alone the amount of passive income he had. He was out of the rat race about an hour into the game, but wanted to see how much we could accumulate before we had to quit. And before long, Max’s paycheck was over three thousand dollars! Max beat me by a mile, and after we were done, Max knew exactly how many houses, businesses, and shares he had. He also knew how many one thousand dollar bills he had.

Our Game
Our Game
Katie and Kirsten came over today to play Cashflow. When we sate down, they asked how to play the game. We started simple with what the dreams were, how to get out of the rat race, what to rat race is, how to set up the sheets, what an asset is, and what a liability is, what’s a charity, getting downsized, and what to do with children. We also told them what passive income is!
When we actually started playing the game, it was slow. But as time passed, we started to pick up speed, but every now and then it slowed back down so Karly and I could teach a new concept. Deals were the most fun, and at one point Karly grabbed a big deal, but it cost too much. That was when Katie and I jumped at the opportunity as a partnership. From then on, we were on fire!

Because of time, Karly was the only one to get out of the rat race. She had started out as a mechanic, while Katie was a janitor, Kirsten a secretary, and I was a teacher. We each had one of the best jobs possible (as far as getting out of the rat race). Only, Katie didn’t do much with her passive income, only with her cash on hand. She was bummed, but thought it was a wonderful idea to start a club and was eager to come back again.
At the next game, we plan to have more players. We will start with the basics as we did today, and as the game progresses, we will start showing the harder concepts that we have learned over time.
But the thing that I think is best is that everyone has fun!

For Starters
8/10/06
Today I had my best friend come over. We played together and about 30 minutes before she had to go home, I told her about what happened yesterday with Sharon Lechter. I could tell that she felt happy for me but then she asked “Do you get money off your job?” That was the question I dreaded. When I said “No, not really,” she didn’t look as joyful any more but she was still a little happy for me. I told her about this website and how it makes a little money for me. In my mind right then, I thought no one in this world besides the Rich Dad Company and my family knew how I felt. I pushed that out of my mind and continued trying to teach my friend how to play Cashflow For Kids. When I pulled out this game, I started (but didn’t finish) explaining the plastic board that each player gets when they play. She sort of knew what a salary was, had no idea what an asset, liability, expense or real estate was. I told her about some of these things and more but she had to leave.
What we did in the last 30 minutes really, really helped me notice so much about how much I have learned from the game and books!

Steps Forward
Today we looked at the calendar and saw dates that might work for the first game with our friends. We also thought of people to invite. 1. Katie & Anika 2. Katie, Anika, Carson, and friends they invite. We also have alternate people, just in case. Karly and I are hoping to get this running by the end of the week. In addition, we thought of quite a few website URLs, and we checked to see if they were available. We are getting ready to decide on our favorite one. Also, we are waiting for the weekly call from Kathy Grady. Then we will set dates for other activities. Meanwhile, we decided on a website URL! www.cashflow4families.com I am so excited! Also, I am working on thank you cards for Sharon, John, Kathy, and Mona.

Meeting Phil Lechter
8/10/06
Phil Lechter
We were at a Cashflow game in Mesa with our dad, when Phil Lechter went on stage to talk about himself and his life. He also asked if we had any questions or comments and I was so excited! I decided to tell him about my social studies teacher, Mr. Blankstein. I told him I am in seventh grade, and my teacher is and has been teaching us about supply and demand. Since I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, I knew a lot about this. So I showed the book and the Cashflow 101 game to him and he loved them. I was wondering if there was any way that I could receive a class set of games? He directed me to Kathy Grady, and I received her e-mail address. When the game was over, I went to shake Phill's hand and then walked outside with my sister and my dad. Just then, Karly and I both knew that we wanted to do something special for Rich Dad. Our dad was thrilled at the idea, but wanted to know wheat it was we wanted to be. Finally, when we were almost to the car, the idea struck us, we should be Ambassadors! Karly and dad were thrilled at the thought, and we all raced back over to the building. When the crowd was starting to thin, it was finally our turn. We were so excited when Lechter said it was a wonderful idea and he would look into it as soon as possible.

The Journey Begins

I. August 9, 2006 - The Start
Today was the most amazing day!
My sister Karly and I met with Sharon Lechter about an Ambassador program and some ideas for Rich Dad Poor Dad.
We arrived at the Rich Dad office about 15 minutes early. After we had been sitting in the the lobby for a minute or two, we heard a voice and sure enough it was Mr. Robert Kiyosaki himself! We did not actually speak with him until later.
In the next couple of minutes, I needed to use the rest room, and as I was walking down the hall ... I got a surprise! Sharon Lechter was there! We immediately recognized one another and waved. As I excited the rest room, I saw Sharon turn the corner and I raced toward her. We went through all of the formalities of swapping names, exchanging greetings, and shaking hands. Then, we went upstairs to the studio.
In the studio we met more people and saw others that we recognized. After putting a cold microphone down our shirts, we started an interview. We opened up with our names and the grades we would be going into, and then Sharon threw some questions at my Dad. He answered them smoothly and without a flaw. Then it was my turn. I wasn't the least bit nervous, the only thing I was jittery with was excitement! This trend went on and also included my sister Karly. The interview lasted about 30 minutes.
After the interview, we went downstairs to have a formal business meeting. Karly and I presented our ideas to Sharon and two other WONDERFUL ladies, Kathy Grady and Mona. They listened intently, had comments, questions and overall loved our presentation. They loved it so much that they wanted to do a "cap" or followup interview and they wanted to start RIGHT AWAY!
This so exciting! First, they are setting Karly and I up a with a website ( still being created ... come back for the URL ) and then showed us how to set up this blog. Since our first idea was to create a Cashflow for Kids Clubs, they set us up with Cashflow 101 and Cashflow for Kids games!
We are ready to ROCK-AND-ROLL.
The "cap" interview rounded out the day.
We back upstairs to the studio and sat down with Sharon and talked to her about our business meeting and how much fun it was going to be working with Rich Dad. All the while, I was being blasted with REALLY COLD air. The air was so cold my teeth were chattering! ( I hope it does not show in the video :-)).
As we finished up the 5 minute interview and walked back down stairs to say our goodbyes, we met up with one of our old friends, Phil Lechter! Phil was the person who got us thinking about being Rich Family Ambassadors! I will tell you that story in another post.

Karly's First Entry
8/9/06
This is my first entry into this daily log about my experiences in the “real world” with assets, liabilities, expenses, income, stock, etc.
Today you wouldn’t believe what happened. We are Rich Dad, Poor Dad’s new Ambassadors! Well, I need to tell you what happened. Kelsey and I have been trying to do this for a couple of months. It all started at a Cashflow game that we went to in Mesa. We met Phil Lechter (Sharon Lechter’s son) and came up with the idea of being ambassadors. We asked him and he said that it was a great idea. He connected us with Kathy Grady and we e-mailed back and forth. She said she was trying to get us started and today is the date we are meeting.
Today at 9:00 a.m. we went to a meeting with Sharon Lechter. It was much, much more than we expected! First we met with Sharon in the waiting room. I was so excited I felt like my heart was going to burst! After we chatted a little, we walked over to the camera room. Sharon told us what we were going to do and what questions she was going to ask us. So we did the interview on tape. In it we told her our ages, why we were there and some advice for children our age. After the interview, we presented some ideas to her (like this one). Then she said we could start one of the ideas and we chose a Cashflow Club for kids. We also set a time when we would come back to the company. When the meeting part was over, we got games to start up our club. We were interviewed one more time saying what we did a little in the meeting.
When we got into the car, I asked my dad if it was usually that easy to start a job. My dad thought that was funny.
Of course, I had to tell somebody about is, so I tried telling my soccer team but they just didn’t get how important it was to me. They didn’t even know some of the words I said like ‘assets, expenses, doodads, etc. That made me notice really how much I’ve learned from this. I knew I started out like them, but I learned and changed and I am different in a good way. I love the Rich Dad, Poor Dad!
