Karly's First Entry

8/9/06

This is my first entry into this daily log about my experiences in the “real world” with assets, liabilities, expenses, income, stock, etc.
Today you wouldn’t believe what happened. We are Rich Dad, Poor Dad’s new Ambassadors! Well, I need to tell you what happened. Kelsey and I have been trying to do this for a couple of months. It all started at a Cashflow game that we went to in Mesa. We met Phil Lechter (Sharon Lechter’s son) and came up with the idea of being ambassadors. We asked him and he said that it was a great idea. He connected us with Kathy Grady and we e-mailed back and forth. She said she was trying to get us started and today is the date we are meeting.

Today at 9:00 a.m. we went to a meeting with Sharon Lechter. It was much, much more than we expected! First we met with Sharon in the waiting room. I was so excited I felt like my heart was going to burst! After we chatted a little, we walked over to the camera room. Sharon told us what we were going to do and what questions she was going to ask us. So we did the interview on tape. In it we told her our ages, why we were there and some advice for children our age. After the interview, we presented some ideas to her (like this one). Then she said we could start one of the ideas and we chose a Cashflow Club for kids. We also set a time when we would come back to the company. When the meeting part was over, we got games to start up our club. We were interviewed one more time saying what we did a little in the meeting.

When we got into the car, I asked my dad if it was usually that easy to start a job. My dad thought that was funny.

Of course, I had to tell somebody about is, so I tried telling my soccer team but they just didn’t get how important it was to me. They didn’t even know some of the words I said like ‘assets, expenses, doodads, etc. That made me notice really how much I’ve learned from this. I knew I started out like them, but I learned and changed and I am different in a good way. I love the Rich Dad, Poor Dad!
